Thanksgiving photos
Everyone’s Thanksgiving photos, in one album.
To collect everyone’s Thanksgiving photos, make one private album and share its link in the family group text before Thursday, or put its QR code on the table. Each person adds the photos and videos they took from their own phone, iPhone or Android, in full quality, and they line up in the order they were taken. Nobody needs to install anything: relatives can add photos in their browser at app.lumomagic.com.

One dinner, a dozen phones
Thanksgiving is the one day a year many families are all at the same table. Everyone takes photos: the turkey before it’s carved, the cousins who flew in, the whole family squeezed into one shot, the football game in the backyard. By Friday, each person’s photos are still on their own phone.
A few get sent to the family group text, smaller than they were taken, and scroll away under a hundred messages. Most are never sent at all, and asking “can everyone send me their photos?” in December rarely brings them back. One album for the day, shared before it starts, does.
iPhone and Android, in the same album
Most families are a mix: an iPhone here, an Android there, a grandparent with a tablet. Lumo works the same on all of them, and in a web browser on any phone or computer, so nobody is left out because of the phone they have.
Everyone sees the same album, with every photo and video in full quality. Videos are kept whole, up to 3 GB each, so the toast and the after-dinner speech don’t get cut short.
Sharing photos between iPhone and AndroidSet it up before Thursday
- Make the album a few days before, and share its link in the family group text so people can join on the way.
- On the day, put the QR code on the table or by the pies, for anyone who missed the link.
- Ask once, while everyone is still together: before the meal, or over dessert.
- Nobody has to sort anything: photos line up in the order they were taken.
A QR code on the table
In Lumo, make an event, for example “Thanksgiving at Grandma’s”, and tap Show a QR code. Print it on the free holiday gathering sign (PDF), with 5×7 in, 4×6 in, A5 and A6 pages, and stand it next to the place cards.
Aunts, uncles and cousins point their phone camera at it and join, in the free app or by choosing “Continue in your browser”. Turn on “Only admins can let people in”, and every request to join comes to you to accept. One code works for up to 500 people, and nothing is public.

Friendsgiving too
A Friendsgiving works the same way, with a different group: friends, roommates, coworkers, everyone bringing a dish. Make a separate event for it, so the friends’ photos have their own album and don’t mix with the family’s.
Share the link in the group chat where you planned who brings what, or put the QR code next to the food. Friends who don’t use Lumo can add their photos in their browser and sign in with Apple, Google or email. The album stays, so the person who left early can add theirs the next day.
Two ways to keep the photos
A family album, if you’d like one place for the family’s photos all year. Start a family album, then in the Family tab tap Invite someone and send the link to the family group text. The Thanksgiving photos go in with everyone else’s, and relatives who couldn’t make it see them as they arrive. The same album is there at Christmas.
An event album with a QR sign, for the dinner itself. Make an event, print its QR code on the sign, and guests scan it to add their photos in the browser at app.lumomagic.com, with no app to install. The event sits next to your family album, kept separate, and stays after the weekend.

Questions
How do I get Thanksgiving photos from relatives with Android phones and iPhones?
Put everyone in one album that works on both. In Lumo, share one link or QR code; relatives join in the free app on iPhone, iPad or Android, or in their browser at app.lumomagic.com, and add their photos in full quality.
Do guests need to install the app?
No. They can scan the code and choose “Continue in your browser” to add photos at app.lumomagic.com, signed in with Apple, Google or email. The free app works too, on iPhone, iPad and Android.
Should Friendsgiving have its own album?
Yes, make a separate event for it. Each event is its own album, so friends see the Friendsgiving photos and your family album stays just for the family.
Is it free?
Yes. There is no fee per event and no limit on photos. Videos are kept whole, up to 3 GB each.
Does the QR code expire?
Invite links and their QR codes stop working after 30 days, so make the code within a month of the party. The album itself stays, and you can make a new code at any time.
How are the photos kept safe?
Photos are encrypted in transit and at rest, and only people in the album can open them. Invite links stop working after 30 days, and you can turn a link off or remove someone at any time. There are no ads, and we don’t sell your data.
