For families far apart

Close, from the other side of the world.

When family lives far away, the everyday photos are what keep you close. Lumo puts them all in one private album that everyone can open, whatever time it is where they are.

Free on iPhone, iPad and Android. Private to your family.

Everyday photos, not just the big days

Phone calls cover the news. Photos cover everything else: the walk to school, the first snow, Sunday dinner. Add them as they happen, and family far away sees the week, not just the highlights.

The Lumo family album, with photos sorted by month

Whatever time it is there

Photos wait in the album, in order, for whenever someone opens it. Notifications come at most once an hour for each person adding photos, so nobody is woken by a flood.

Comments and hearts sit under each photo, so a conversation can happen across time zones.

Full videos, not squeezed clips

Videos are kept whole, up to 3 GB each, and play in full quality. Everyone can watch the first minute free; with Lumo Pass, which covers the whole family, they watch every video in full.

Sharing long videos with family

In everyone’s language, on every phone

iPhone, Android, tablet or a browser, in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean or Chinese: one album works for the whole family.

Questions

Is Lumo really free?

Yes. The album, unlimited photos and videos, inviting family, hearts and comments are all free. Lumo Pass is optional, for unlimited magic, full-length videos and saving originals. Unlimited means unlimited for everyday family use, under fair use.

Does it work between iPhone and Android?

Yes. Lumo is on iPhone, iPad and Android, and in a browser, and everyone sees the same album.

Does everyone need to install the app?

No. People can open their invite and choose “Continue in your browser” to join at app.lumomagic.com, signed in with Apple, Google or email. The free app adds notifications and Magic.

Who can see our photos?

Only the people in your family album. Nothing is public, there are no followers, and photos are never shown to anyone outside your family.

How does Lumo keep our photos safe?

Photos are encrypted in transit and at rest, and only signed-in members of your family album can open them. Invite links stop working after 30 days, a family code only asks to join, and you can turn the code off or remove someone at any time. There are no ads, and we don’t sell your data.

Does Lumo use AI on our photos?

Only when someone in your family asks. Lumo Magic runs when someone taps it on a photo: that one photo is sent to OpenAI or Google to make the new picture, which is saved next to the original. The rest of the album isn’t sent anywhere for AI, and the original stays exactly as it was. More in our privacy policy.
