Moving albums
Move your shared album to Lumo.
To move a shared album from Google Photos, iCloud or LINE to Lumo, save the album’s photos to your phone or computer, add them to a Lumo family album, then send one invite link to the people who were in the old album. Lumo can’t open another service’s album link, so the photos pass through your own device first. Here are the steps for each service, and the limits that make families move.
Lumo is a free, private family album for iPhone, iPad and Android. Send one link and the whole family can join.

Today’s limits, and why families move
Each of these shared albums stops growing at some point. As of 6 November 2026:
- iCloud Shared Albums made on iOS 26 or earlier hold up to 5,000 photos and videos, with photos reduced to 2048 pixels.
- iCloud Shared Albums made on iOS 27 or later have no count, but everything in them, including what others add, uses the owner’s iCloud storage. Temporary albums hold up to 5,000 and are deleted after 30 days.
- A LINE album holds up to 1,000 items, of which up to 100 can be videos, and a chat can have up to 100 albums.
- Google Photos shares 15 GB of free storage with Gmail and Drive, and photos saved from a shared album into your library count toward yours.
Where these limits come from
Apple’s Shared Albums limits, LINE’s Creating and editing albums and Google’s How storage works in your Google Account, all checked 6 November 2026. Services change their limits, so check those pages if a number looks different.
What changed with iOS 27 shared albumsWhat Lumo can and can’t do
Lumo can’t pull photos from a shared album link. Google, Apple and LINE don’t let other apps open their shared albums, so there is no one-tap import. What works is what is already on your phone or computer: you save the photos, then add them to Lumo.
Adding copies the photos. Nothing in the old album changes, so you can move at your own pace. Lumo skips photos already in the album, so you can add in batches without anything appearing twice, and it sorts each photo by the date taken stored in the photo.

From a Google Photos shared album
On a computer, open the album at photos.google.com, click More, then Download all, and unzip the file. Then open app.lumomagic.com, sign in and add them all at once: in a browser there is no limit per pick.
On a phone, open each photo in the album and tap More, then Download, so it’s saved on your phone. Then open Lumo, tap Add and choose them in the photo picker, up to 30 at a time. Google notes that a downloaded file can get a new date on the file itself; Lumo reads the date taken inside the photo when there is one. How to save every photo from a shared albumFrom an iCloud Shared Album
On iPhone or iPad, open the album in Photos, tap Select, choose the photos, then tap Share and Save. They go into your own library. Then open Lumo, tap Add and choose them, up to 30 at a time.
For a large album, a computer is quicker: copy the album from Photos on a Mac, or from iCloud for Windows, then add everything at once at app.lumomagic.com. Albums made on iOS 26 or earlier keep photos at 2048 pixels, so that is the size you move.
iCloud shared album full? What to doFrom a LINE album
On the phone, open the chat, tap the menu at the top and choose Albums. Open the album, tap the options icon at the top right and tap Download album. The photos are saved to your phone. Then open Lumo, tap Add and choose them, up to 30 at a time.
On a computer, open the album in LINE, choose Save all from its options menu, then add the saved photos at app.lumomagic.com. Source: LINE’s Creating and editing albums, checked 6 November 2026.
Then invite the old album’s members with one link
In Lumo, open Family and tap Invite someone. Leave the name empty and share the link where the old album’s people already talk: the LINE chat, the family group, or a comment in the old album. A link without a name lets up to 20 people join, and it works for 30 days. Everyone joins on their own phone, iPhone or Android, or in a browser.
People who join see every photo already in the album, and they can add their own. Anyone who saved photos from the old album can add theirs too; duplicates are skipped.
Keep the old album until everyone is in
Moving doesn’t delete anything, so there’s no rush. Keep the old album until the family has joined Lumo. If the owner deletes a shared album later, it disappears for everyone, but the copies in Lumo stay.

Questions
Can Lumo import a shared album from its link?
No. Google Photos, iCloud and LINE don’t let other apps open their shared albums. Save the photos to your phone or computer first, then add them to Lumo.
Is there a limit on how many photos I can move?
There is no number of photos per album. The app adds up to 30 at a time, and a browser at app.lumomagic.com adds as many as you choose at once. Storage is free and unlimited for everyday family use, under fair use.
Will photos show up twice if I add them again?
No. Lumo skips photos already in the album, so it’s fine to add in batches, or for several people to add the same ones.
Will the photos stay in order?
Yes. Lumo sorts each photo by the date taken stored in it, so the album stays in order even if the photos were saved on another day.
Is Lumo free?
Yes. The album, unlimited photos and videos, inviting family, hearts and comments are free, for everyday family use under fair use. There are no ads.
Who can see our photos?
Only the people in your family album. Nothing is public, there are no followers, and photos are never shown to anyone outside your family.
