Choosing a family album
Looking at Famileo? Here’s how Lumo compares.
Famileo and Lumo do different jobs. Famileo turns the family’s messages and photos into a printed gazette and posts it to grandparents once or twice a month, from €5.99 a month. Lumo is a free private album on a phone, tablet or computer, where everyone in the family adds photos and whole videos and grandparents see them the same day. Lumo doesn’t print anything, so many families could use both.
Lumo is a free, private family album for iPhone, iPad and Android. Send one link and the whole family can join.

Paper by post, or an album on a screen
Famileo is built around paper. Everyone in the family posts news and photos in the Famileo app, Famileo lays them out as a personal family newspaper, and the post brings it to the grandparents. They need no phone or computer to read it.
Lumo is built around the album. Everyone adds photos and videos from their own phone, and they appear for the whole family in order, with hearts and comments under each one. Grandparents open it on a phone, a tablet or in a web browser, and can reply or add their own photos.

What Famileo does that Lumo doesn’t
Famileo sends paper. A gazette on the kitchen table needs no screen, no sign-in and no notifications, which suits grandparents who don’t use a phone at all. Families can split the cost, and some care homes offer the subscription to their residents’ families. Famileo can also gather a year of gazettes into one printed album.
Lumo doesn’t print or post anything. If paper is what your grandparents want, Famileo is made for that, and its reviews show many families love it.
What Lumo adds
Every photo and whole video arrives the same day, in full quality, with no limit on how many. Grandparents can heart a photo, leave a comment or add their own photos, and everyone sees it.
Grandparents join with a private invite link or a 4-digit family code, and the album also opens in any web browser at app.lumomagic.com, without installing anything. Lumo appears in each person’s own language, including French, German and Spanish.
Sharing photos with grandparents
Use both
Paper once a month and the album every day work well together. Keep every photo and video in Lumo as it happens, then save a few favourites to your phone and post them to Famileo for the next gazette.
Famileo is a trademark of its owner; Lumo isn’t affiliated with Famileo. Facts about Famileo come from Famileo’s own website, checked on 6 November 2026.
