The best photos are on the guests’ phones
At a baby shower, the host is busy and the parents-to-be are opening gifts. The photos are taken by everyone else: friends, sisters, aunts and grandparents-to-be, each on their own phone. A few get sent in a chat, smaller than they were taken; most are never sent at all.
One album for the shower, set up before it starts, brings them together without anyone having to ask twice.
Set it up before the shower
- Make the event a week or two before, and add its link to the invitation or the guest chat.
- On the day, stand the QR code sign on the gift table and by the food, for guests who missed the link.
- Ask someone to remind everyone once, during the gifts, while they are all in one room.
- Nobody has to sort anything: photos line up in the order they were taken.

Download the free baby shower sign (PDF), with A5, A6, 5×7 in and 4×6 in pages. In Lumo, make an event, for example “Maya’s baby shower”, tap Show a QR code and place the code in the frame on the sign.
Guests point their phone camera at it and join, in the free app or by choosing “Continue in your browser”. Turn on “Only admins can let people in” if you’d like to accept each guest yourself. Nothing is public.

The event album stays, so guests who get home late can still add their photos, and the parents-to-be can look through all of them when they have a quiet moment. Photos are kept in full quality, and videos whole, up to 3 GB each.
The event sits next to your own family album, kept separate. When the baby arrives, the family album is where everyday photos go.

Questions
Do guests need to install the app?
No. They can scan the code and choose “Continue in your browser” to add photos at app.lumomagic.com, signed in with Apple, Google or email. The free app works too, on iPhone, iPad and Android.
Can the host set it up for the parents-to-be?
Yes. The host makes the event and sends the parents-to-be the link like any other guest. Everyone in the event sees every photo, and nobody outside it can.
Is it free?
Yes. There is no fee per event and no limit on photos. Videos are kept whole, up to 3 GB each.
Does the QR code expire?
Invite links and their QR codes stop working after 30 days, so make the code within a month of the party. The album itself stays, and you can make a new code at any time.
How are the photos kept safe?
Photos are encrypted in transit and at rest, and only people in the album can open them. Invite links stop working after 30 days, and you can turn a link off or remove someone at any time. There are no ads, and we don’t sell your data.
