Free photo tool
A birth announcement that opens your family album.
Pick a photo, add your baby’s name and paste your Lumo invite link or family code. The card gets a QR code that says “More photos in our family album”, so everyone who receives it can see the photos that come next. Send it to the family chat or print it at 5 × 7 inches.
- Free, no sign-up, no time limit
- Your photos never leave your device
- A QR code to your own family album
How to make a birth announcement with your photo
- Choose one to three photos from your phone or computer.
- Add your baby’s name and, if you like, the date and a line of thanks.
- Paste your invite link or family code from Lumo, to put a QR code to your album on the card.
- Share or download to send the card to the family chat, or print it to go with your thank-you gifts.
Turn on approval so only family gets in
A printed card can be passed on, so put your family code on it rather than an invite link. Whoever scans the QR code and types the code only asks to join. Nobody sees a photo until someone in your family lets them in.
To decide every request yourself, turn on “Only admins can let people in” in Lumo’s Family tab. Invite links and QR codes then send a request too, and only you or an admin can say yes.
- Open Family in Lumo and find your 4-digit family code.
- Turn on Only admins can let people in if you want to approve each person yourself.
- Type the code into the card maker and print your cards.
Questions
- Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
- No. Your browser draws the card and the QR code on your device. Your photos and your link are never sent to Lumo or anyone else, and they’re gone when you close the page. There’s no sign-up and no cookie.
- Is it free?
- Yes, with no time limit. Make as many cards as you like. A small “Made with Lumo · lumomagic.com” line sits at the bottom of the card, and you can turn it off.
- What does the QR code open?
- With an invite link, it opens that link, and the person joins your family album in the Lumo app or in a browser. With a family code, it opens Lumo, and the card shows the code to type. Either way, only the people your family lets in can see the photos.
- Where do I find my invite link or family code?
- In the Lumo app, open Family. Tap Invite someone and then Copy link, or use the 4-digit family code shown there. No album yet? Get Lumo free and start one in a minute.
- Can I print it?
- Yes. Choose 5 × 7 in, and the card comes out at 5 × 7 inches and 300 dpi (1500 × 2100 pixels), the usual size for a birth announcement. Print it at home on photo paper, or take the JPEG to a photo shop. The QR code prints about 3 cm wide, big enough for any phone camera.
- Is it made with AI?
- No. The card is drawn from your photo and simple shapes, exactly as you see it. Nothing is generated, and your photo isn’t changed.
- What is Lumo?
- Lumo is a private family photo album. Everyone in the family adds their photos to one album that only the family can see, with no followers, no feed and no ads. It’s free on iPhone, iPad, Android and in a web browser.
WhatsApp and iMessage are trademarks of their owners. Lumo is not affiliated with them.
